Injury Recovery & Chronic Condition Travel

Specialized care for complex needs — without compromise.

OVERVIEW

For individuals managing long-term conditions, significant injuries, or the ongoing demands of a serious diagnosis, travel is not impossible; it simply requires clinical intelligence that most travel arrangements do not provide. The cabin environment presents real risks for conditions that are otherwise well-managed on the ground: altered oxygen levels, immobility, dehydration, disrupted medication schedules, and the physiological demands of altitude can destabilize what was stable at home.

Air Nurses operates in the space between standard travel and air ambulance, providing expert, dignified clinical presence for travelers who need more than a flight attendant and less than an emergency response team. Our CFRNs are condition-trained specialists who arrive briefed, equipped, and prepared to manage your specific clinical profile throughout the journey.

Whether you are traveling with a cardiac condition, managing cancer treatment, recovering from stroke, or navigating the daily demands of a complex metabolic disorder, our nurses bring the clinical expertise to make the journey safe and the human presence to make it bearable. Travel should not be a risk you take; it should be a confidence you carry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work with oncology patients who are mid-treatment?

Yes. We have supported patients traveling during active chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatment regimens. Our nurses coordinate with your oncology team to understand your current protocol, any immunosuppression considerations, and specific monitoring needs for the journey.

My doctor is concerned about my oxygen levels at altitude, can you help?

Absolutely. Oxygen management at altitude is a core competency for our CFRNs. We work with your physician to assess your oxygen requirements, arrange supplemental oxygen if needed, and manage your levels throughout the flight.

Can you manage multiple conditions simultaneously?

Yes. Many of our clients are managing more than one chronic condition. The pre-travel intake is designed to capture the full clinical picture, and we match you with a nurse whose background encompasses your specific combination of needs.

What if I am recovering from a stroke and have communication challenges?

We are experienced in caring for individuals with post-stroke communication difficulties, including aphasia and dysarthria. Before departure, we work with you and your care team to understand your communication preferences and ensure your nurse is fully prepared to support you effectively throughout the journey.
