Elderly & Mobility Assistance Travel

Safe, dignified travel for those who matter most.

OVERVIEW

Organizing travel for an aging parent or a loved one with limited mobility is one of the most emotionally complex logistics challenges a family faces. The itinerary is manageable; it is the in-between moments that carry risk. The transfer from the car to the terminal. The long walk to the gate. The medication that needs to be taken at a specific hour. The cognitive disorientation that comes with unfamiliar environments. These are the moments where the absence of clinical expertise is felt most acutely.

Air Nurses provides experienced flight nurses who specialize in geriatric and mobility care. They are trained not only in the clinical dimensions of aging, such as managing medications, monitoring cardiac and respiratory status, and preventing falls, but in the human ones as well: patience, communication, emotional attunement. The ability to make someone feel safe and seen, even when they are far from home.

Whether your loved one is traveling alone and needs a clinical companion for the journey, or you are arranging a family trip and want the peace of mind that comes with expert supervision, our nurses integrate seamlessly. This is not institutional care; it is personal, premium, and built around the dignity your family member deserves.

Frequently Asked Questions

My parent has dementia, is this service appropriate?
Yes. Our nurses are experienced in providing compassionate care for travelers with cognitive conditions including dementia and Alzheimer's. We are trained to manage disorientation, behavioral changes, and anxiety in unfamiliar environments. We will speak with you in advance to understand your loved one's specific triggers, routines, and communication preferences.

Can your nurse administer medications during the flight?
Yes. Our CFRNs are licensed to administer medications including oral medications, injections, and IV therapy as required. We coordinate with your loved one's physician in advance to obtain a current medication list and any specific administration protocols.

What if my parent requires a wheelchair through the airport?
Our nurses coordinate directly with airline accessibility services to arrange wheelchair assistance, pre-boarding, and any other accommodations needed. They accompany your loved one through every step of the airport process — check-in, security, gate, boarding, and deplaning.

Can I travel with my parent and still have a nurse present?
Absolutely. Many families arrange for a nurse to accompany them and their loved one, particularly on longer flights or when the family member's needs are complex. Having clinical expertise present allows the family to be present as family — not as caregivers.
